Despite a shortened approach to reduce stress on his knee, Smith equaled his personal-best 6-10, the state's No. 2 mark, to win the Southern Section Division I title to post the top qualifying mark for the Masters Meet.

``It feels like it is getting worse, but it is a relief to finally get an answer what is wrong,'' Smith said. ``It has gone on for so long, it is out of control.''
