CHECKS IN THE MAIL TO DONATE $1 TO AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION
FOR EVERY ORDER OF ENVIRONMENTAL-DESIGN CHECKS
Clean Air Week, May 2-8, Kicks Off Fundraising Partnership
IRWINDALE, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In a fundraising partnership, Checks in the Mail(TM), America's leading direct-to- consumer check printer, is donating $1 to the American Lung Association(R) for every order or reorder of its environmental-design checks that feature the Lung Association logo purchased beginning April 1.
The effort, which is being formally kicked off with Clean Air Week(R), May 2-8, is expected to raise thousands of dollars for the American Lung Association, the nation's oldest voluntary health organization fighting lung disease and supporting clean-air issues. That estimate is based on Checks in the Mail's customer base, which numbers in the millions. There is no end date set for this program and no cap on the company's donations to the Lung Association.
Since Checks in the Mail's introductory price for 200 checks is $4.95, each $1 donation it makes to the Lung Association represents 20 percent of those check sales. (Reorders are $6.95, representing 14 percent of the purchase price.)
The environmental series featured in the fundraising campaign is called "Natural Treasure" and includes three rotating designs featuring the forest, the beach and the sky.
"Our new donation program for the American Lung Association allows consumers to demonstrate their support of environmental and health issues, including Clean Air Week, while saving money," said A.J. Uniack, president of Checks in the Mail. "By making a practical, economical purchase, they automatically benefit the Lung Association."
The Lung Association's Managing Director John Garrison said: "We are extremely pleased with the cause-marketing relationship between the American Lung Association and Checks in the Mail. This offer provides the consumer with a simple way to help fight for cleaner air and healthier lungs. Our relationships with companies like Checks in the Mail allow us to continue the environmental health work we started 30 years ago, so that people with existing lung disease, as well as healthy individuals, have cleaner air to breathe."
The American Lung Association is dedicated to the fight against lung disease. Along with its medical section, the American Thoracic Society, the association provides programs of education, community service, advocacy and research. Its activities are supported by donations to Christmas Seals(R) and other voluntary contributions. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association is the oldest nationwide voluntary health agency in the United States.
Checks in the Mail markets checks directly to consumers, eliminating the middle man and thus providing significant savings over bank-ordered checks (banks typical charge $10-$16 per order for design checks). Founded in 1922, the company offers checks in 21 designs for personal use, in addition to business checks, all of which meet the stringent security requirements of the American Banking Association and are accepted at all banks.
Free brochures with ordering instructions can be obtained by calling 800-733-4443 or writing: Checks in the Mail, P.O. Box 7802, Irwindale, CA 91706.
