CHECKPOINT YIELDS TICKETS.

LANCASTER - Deputies manning a checkpoint (programming) checkpoint - Saving the current state of a program and its data, including intermediate results, to disk or other non-volatile storage, so that if interrupted the program could be restarted at the point at which the last checkpoint occurred.  Thursday afternoon issued more than three dozen citations and impounded four vehicles, officials said.

The checkpoint at 10th Street West and Avenue K-8 stopped motorists to check for intoxication intoxication, condition of body tissue affected by a poisonous substance. ``I hope the increased visibility will motivate drivers to slow down, drive carefully, don't drive unless properly licensed and don't drink and drive,'' said traffic Sgt. Gus Risinger.

During the four hours the checkpoint was set up, deputies stopped 480 vehicles. More than 400 other vehicles were waved through to avoid making their drivers wait too long.

Deputies issued 28 citations for miscellaneous traffic violations and nine for drivers with suspended sus·pend
