CHECKMATE RECEIVES FIRST MAJOR ORDER FOR CHAIN-WIDE ROLL OUT AT IKEA.

ROSWELL, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1995--Checkmate Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq-NMS Symbol: CMEL) today announced orders for the first phase of a chain-wide roll out of Checkmate's CM 2001 Payment Systems terminal combined with Checkmate's CM 2020 Signature Capture device. This first order, valued at over $161,000 will provide ATM/debit card processing and signature capture for all transactions at all IKEA concept furniture stores in the U.S.

Checkmate provided a cost effective solution that will connect seamlessly to our IBM cash register platform and provide ports for expansion as our requirements grow. Signature capture was easily cost justified based on the number of credit card and ATM/debit transactions. IKEA's average ticket size is higher than the cost of a signature capture terminal. We will recover our investment on the first few chargebacks we will be able to defend."
