A DELI chain boss announced the birth of his first baby girl - on customers' till receipts.

Tony, 47, programmed all the tills to print the news "IT'S A GIRL" on the receipts.

He said: "We were overjoyed when Honor arrived and just wanted to shout it from the rooftops.

"We couldn't do that but we could put it on the receipts instead, so that's what I did.

"Lots of our staff have been telling me that people have been going back in to ask them about the message on the receipt and there have been loads of lovely reactions when they tell people our news.

"We absolutely love our sons and wouldn't have minded another boy but it was great to have a girl after two boys.

"You don't really think people take notice of receipts but we've had so many people spot it and pass on good wishes and it's all added to the joy of Honor's birth."

Mum and baby are both doing well at the family home in Glasgow's west end, despite Honor having arrived four-and-a-half weeks early.

Tony added: "Quite a few people were worried about her being born so early but her big brother Oscar was eight weeks early and he's now a real bruiser so we knew she'd be a little fighter just like him."
