CHATTER: WARRIORS PSYCHIC NETWORK.

Byline: Chris Branam Daily News Staff Writer

When Westlake High wide receiver Travis Campbell was asked who surprised him most this summer, he didn't hesitate to say junior receiver Chris Catalano.

Obviously, Campbell knows what he's talking about. Catalano opened the year against Buena on Friday with five catches for 112 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown.

``Chris is just a great athlete,'' said Campbell, a senior. ``He's the type of player that can make things happen.''

The emergence of Catalano and running back Julian Lambert enhance an already potent Westlake offense. With Campbell and tight end Mike Seidman getting most of the attention by opposing defenses, Catalano and Lambert can let loose.

Lambert had 115 yards on 19 carries.

Lelles finished the three-mile course in 15 minutes, 7 seconds. He beat Saugus' Jacob Boeding by four seconds and also posted the fastest time of the meet.

Saugus won the boys' team title with a cumulative time of 79:26, edging second-place Notre Dame (80:02). Thousand Oaks' Melissa McBain won the senior girls' race in 17:58, leading the Lancers lanc·er
