CHATTER: USC WEATHERING LOST ARMS.

USC's baseball team has enough pitching depth to make a serious run at the College World Series. But the Trojans lost two durable left-handers, sophomore Matt Chico Matthew Bryan "Matt" Chico (born June 10, 1983 in Fullerton, California) is a left-handed starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. A graduate of Fallbrook Union High School, Chico attended Palomar College and was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks  and senior Cory Campos, to academic ineligibility.

Chico, a regarded prospect who turned down the Boston Red Sox's offer as a second-round pick to attend USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. , had moments of brilliance in 2002 but suffered from control problems. He went 6-4 with a 5.45 ERA and plans to transfer to a junior college.

As his past two performances have shown, he's playing some of his best ball of the season. Verrillo scored 24 points, had 10 assists and five steals in a 73-64 victory last Friday over Agoura and had 26 points, eight assists and three steals in a 75-60 victory Wednesday over Thousand Oaks.
