CHATTER: SORENSON WILL JOIN CARPENTER AT ASU.Byline: Matthew Kredell Staff Writer Ryan Sorenson and Rudy Carpenter went through the struggles at Newbury Park High together, celebrated the success at Westlake together and now will adjust to college life together. Sorenson, a 6-foot-5, 310-pounder who anchored Westlake's dominant offensive line, orally committed Wednesday to Arizona State. ``Me and Rudy have wanted to go to college together ever since we've known each other,'' said Sorenson, who has known Carpenter since age 10. ``We're going to be roommates, and it will take a lot of pressure off.'' After committing, Carpenter urged Arizona State to offer Sorenson a scholarship. Now the quarterback knows he will be well-protected, on the field and off. ``I'm really excited that he's going to Arizona State,'' Carpenter said. ``It will give us both someone familiar rather than going somewhere by ourselves.''
