CHATTER: SAUGUS' HOLDEN NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN.Byline: Gerry Gittelson Staff Writer Softball slugger Jaclyn Holden of Saugus carried her travel team, the California Cruisers of Orange County, to the championship game of the annual ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah. She managed one hit off Katy left-hander Cat Osterman, a U.S. National Team member who had 97 strikeouts in 46 innings at the ASA tournament. ``It was a blast,'' Holden said. ``We got a chance to play in front of a lot of people. It was packed. But I've never seen a ball move like Osterman's. I think her team probably could have won the tournament with just her and a catcher.'' Holden batted .381 in the 11 tournament games against the best teen-age pitchers in the nation. ``I was a little shocked to make All-American,'' she said. Former Saugus High player Julie Watson also was named first-team All-American, along with Highland of Palmdale's Ashlie D'Errico. Meredith Cervenka of Crescenta Valley was named second-team All-American. Holden, expected to be the region's premier college prospect next season, is planning official recruiting visits to Florida State, North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States.
