 and thought a version of the Atlantic Coast Conference-Big East Conference preseason matchups might work locally. So, he contacted the coaches from the two leagues. Everyone liked the idea enough to do it for two years.

``When the ACC plays the Big Ten (sic), there's always arguments about who's the best,'' Dornan said. ``Someone got the idea, `Why don't we play?' ''

Dornan said the event will feature seven games in one day, a different Mission team playing a Marmonte team. The site needs to be arranged (Dornan is hoping for Cal State Northridge), as do the matchups and dates (Dec. 23, Jan. 6 or Jan. 15).

But Dornan is excited about the day. . . .

Trevor Schmidt answers the question affirmatively.

Schmidt, a former Chatsworth High and Cal State Northridge player, is attempting to bring a women's outdoor soccer league to the Valley.

``Growing up in the Valley, there was only one women's league Women's League (in Swedish: Kvinnoligan) was a feminist organization in Sweden, based in Lund. It was founded in 1970. It consisted of autonomous basis units. Its policies were largely similar to Grupp 8.

The organization was dissolved in 1973.

Ideally, Schmidt's league would have both a competitive and recreational division, with eight teams per division and 18 players per team. Each team would play 11 matches plus playoffs.

 regions. They were most successful when they approached the over-18 league in Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. . Since that league's seasons is near completion, teams have signed up for Schmidt's league, which is scheduled to begin March 19 at Sutter Middle School in Winnetka.

A benefit basketball game between the Calabasas boys' soccer team and the faculty is March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Calabasas gym.
