Medders was originally declared ineligible after the Southern Section found her in violation of rules regarding transfers with dual residency.

In order to come into compliance, the Medders family disassembled two beds in their Westlake Village house Thursday. The family lives in an Oak Park apartment.

Staunton said the forfeit of games would not be official until Oak Park submitted paperwork to the Southern Section office saying the team used an ineligible player.

Oak Park principal Cliff Moore could not be reached for comment.

Oak Park's record is 12-10 overall and 6-0 in the Tri-Valley League. Its overall record would go to 7-15 if it were to forfeit those games. However, its league record would remain the same since Medders has sat out those six games since being ruled ineligible. ...

It proved to be too much for Cleveland of Reseda, even though Young played brilliantly, scoring 28 points. In the rematch, Smith is key because of his ability to get to the basket and the way he rebounds. He brings a football toughness to basketball, and it shows. Young is a prolific scorer, able to size up defenders and either drive around them or shoot over them. He's outstanding in the open court and can dunk with the best of them. He'll need to do a better job of keeping the active Smith off the boards, which hurt Cleveland in the first meeting.
