CHATTER: NEWS AND NOTES FROM LOCAL SPORTS ELBOW INJURY SIDELINES HART'S TWO-SPORT STAR.

For two-sport standout Tyler Lyon, the bad news is he'll probably miss the rest of baseball season at Hart High of Newhall after tearing an elbow ligament last week just two innings into his first pitching appearance of the year.

The good news is Lyon won't need surgery after consulting with two physicians specializing in sports injuries Sports Injuries Definition

Sports injuries result from acute trauma or repetitive stress associated with athletic activities. Sports injuries can affect bones or soft tissue (ligaments, muscles, tendons).
, so the 6-foot-6 junior right- hander should be fine in time for football season.

He is a returning quarterback who passed for more than 3,100 yards last season. He has received a scholarship offer from Arizona.

``The whole thing was a little scary at first. But I've already got a good rehab program going,'' Lyon said.

``I'll be going every day of the week. Yes, it's a step back, but it happens in sports a lot, and I just have to respond to it and keep working hard. It's upsetting, but I can't let myself get down. I've got to stay positive.''
