CHATTER: MORE AWARDS GO TO OAKS CHRISTIAN DUO.

Jimmy Clausen's trophy case is getting a little crowded.

The Oaks Christian of Westlake Village quarterback, who led the Lions to the state Div. III championship, received the U.S. Army Player of the Year award Several sports leagues honor their best player with an award called Player of the Year. In the United States, this type of award is usually called a Most Valuable Player award. The awards with the "player of the year" phrasing include these.  on Friday night at the All-American Bowl awards dinner in San Antonio.

Oaks Christian teammate Marc Tyler received the AFL AFL: see American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations.  Iron Man of the Year award.

Clausen, Tyler and teammate Marshall Jones are among 11 California players on the West roster for the seventh annual U.S. Army All-American football game, scheduled for 10a.m. today at the Alamodome.

Tyler, who suffered a broken left fibula fibula (fĭb`yələ): see leg.  in November, is one of four West players who are injured and unable to play.

The game will be broadcast live on NBC NBC
 in full National Broadcasting Co.

Campbell Hall, Taft hit the road

The Taft of Woodland Hills and Campbell Hall of North Hollywood boys' basketball teams boarded an airplane together Friday morning and ventured east, destined des·tine

Campbell Hall (10-1), ranked No. 2, follows that game at noon (FSNW, 7 p.m. replay on Prime) against Hopkins of Minnetonka, Minn.
