CHATTER: MEDDERS GIVEN REINSTATEMENT.

Oak Park senior guard Lyndsey Medders has been reinstated by the CIF State Executive Director, according to her mother, Mardy Medders.

Medders, a Daily News All-Area selection at Harvard-Westlake of Studio City, has had to sit out Oak Park's past five games after the Southern Section ruled her in violation of rules regarding transfers with dual residency.

``We are very grateful that the State office did a more thorough review,'' Mardy Medders said. ``It was a horrible thing that Lyndsey has had to go through and it's unfortunate that the proper investigation didn't take place in a timely manner.'' ...

Former Hart High of Newhall quarterback Kyle Boller, who finished his career at Cal this season, has made a big impression with scouts during the offseason evaluation period. As a result, Boller is expected to be chosen in the first round of April's NFL draft.

According to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr., Boller could go to Green Bay with the 29th pick. Here is what Kiper says about Boller:

``The Packers must start thinking about an heir apparent to Brett Favre, who may be entering his last season. Boller had a turnaround year last season at Cal, throwing 28 TD passes and just 10 interceptions while completing 53.4 percent of his passes. He showed a live arm at the Senior Bowl to possibly push his way into the first round.''

The Sporting News has Boller going ninth to the Carolina Panthers. ...

Former Grant High of Van Nuys basketball standout Gilbert Arenas was disappointed being taken in the second round of last year's NBA Draft. As a first-round pick, he would likely have signed for about $3 million over three years.

Arenas, who plays for Golden State, has emerged as one of the NBA's best young guards and he should be able to cash in. Arenas can shop himself as a restricted free agent when the two-year deal he signed with the Warriors expires, unlike first-round picks, who are bound to the team that drafted them for four years.

Arenas and teammates Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy will play for the NBA sophomore All-Star team against a team of NBA rookies during All-Star weekend.

Golden State likely will be over the salary cap and unable to offer Arenas more than $4.5 million a year.

The Denver Nuggets are among the teams interested in Arenas.

When the Warriors signed Earl Boykins to back up Arenas at point guard, it cut into Arenas' playing time, reducing his minutes from 39 to 31 a game.

Arenas was fined $2,500 for missing practice last week. He said he was sick after taking aspirin on an empty stomach and that his agent called the Warriors' front office to tell them Arenas would miss practice.

``Gilbert and I had a great talk (Friday) night,'' Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. ``He vividly described his sickness to me. ... From here on out, there will be no phone calls to anyone else but me if they are sick.'' ...

Cody Kase, a linebacker from Hart of Newhall, has committed to New Mexico. Justin Green, a receiver from Campbell Hall of North Hollywood will attend Cornell. Alan West, a linebacker from Burroughs of Burbank, will play at Penn. Jason Turner, a linebacker from St. Francis of La Canada, will attend New Mexico.
