St. Francis of La Canada Linebacker If you're a football fan who enjoys watching a hard-nosed running team go against a physical defense, then Friday's key Mission League game between Notre Dame (7-0, 2-0) and St. Francis (5-2, 2-0) is for you. No one personifies both teams' image more than Marquez and Turner, fierce competitors who lay it on the line every time they step on the field. Marquez is a multifaceted weapon at quarterback, using his running and passing skills to keep teams off balance. He's the Knights' second-leading rusher with 431 yards and six touchdowns on 73 carries. He does most of the damage on option runs and also by tucking the ball away on scrambles. As a passer, he's getting better by the week, having thrown for 358 yards and five touchdowns on 29-of-63 passing. He's facing one of the top defenders in the region in Turner, an aggressive, hard-hitting middle linebacker, who is expert in run defense. Turner is big (6-1, 220), fast and smart, using all his skills to break down plays and get to the ball. He'll be especially important Friday because Notre Dame's option works well when the opposing middle linebacker is not making plays. But if Turner is on top of his game, he can disrupt Notre Dame's attack.
