CHATTER: HART'S HOT-SHOOTING LILLEY IS SECOND-TEAM ALL-STATE SELECTION.

Hart High of Newhall guard Taylor Lilley was selected to Cal-Hi Sports' girls' basketball all-state second team.

Lilley, who signed with Oregon, was the Southern Section Div. I-A Player of the Year after leading the Indians to their first section championship since 1990. She averaged 18.8 points per game and made 1193-pointers, the fourth-highest season total in Southern Section history and 12th-best in the state. Her 275 career 3-pointers are No. 2 in the Southern Section and No. 10 in the state.

Newbury Park guard Kavita Goss n. 1. Gorse. , headed to Loyola Marymount, was selected to the third team. Goss averaged 18.6 points and 4.3 assists to lead the Panthers to the Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. The Chancellors' shortstop hit five home runs in as many games, including three in two games Wednesday, to lead Chatsworth to its third consecutive title at the Durango of Las Vegas baseball tournament. Moustakas was the primary power behind the Chancellors' nine home runs in the tournament, giving him seven this season and 21 in his prep career, three shy of Jason Dominguez's school record.

SHANNON MURAKAMI

Junior, Saugus

Already the area's fastest runner at 1,600 and 3,200 meters, Murakami clocked 2 minutes, 10.03 seconds Saturday in the 800 - the best time in the state this year - to finish second to Mexican standout Cristina Guevara Esteban (2:09.18) at the Mt. SAC Relays. Murakami also led Saugus to second place in the distance-medley relay (12:26.7).

Highland of Palmdale

The junior swimmer, who did not compete last year, won all eight races she entered last week, including the 100-yard backstroke and 200 freestyle at Saturday's Knight of Palmdale Invitational. She also contributed to the Bulldogs' victories in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
