CHATTER: H.-W. STAR JOINS NEW ZEALAND SOCCER TEAM.

Ali Riley, a senior at Harvard-Westlake of Studio City, is one of four U.S.-based players called up by New Zealand's under-20 national women's soccer team for four games this month in Australia.

Riley, who signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play at Stanford, is eligible to play for New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  because her father, John, is a native Kiwi.

The games are preparation for the April 1-10 qualifying tournament in Samoa that will determine Oceania's qualifier for the FIFA FIFA International Association Football Federation [French Fédération Internationale de Football Association]

Grabbed 20 or more rebounds in 16 games as a senior at Harvard-Westlake High School in North Hollywood • Fourth-team Parade All-America selection • Averaged 20.4 points and 17.  heads the list of area boys' players, among 1,500 nationally contending for 24 All-American spots and the chance to play in the McDonald's All-American Game on March 29 in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. .

Other nominated are Flintridge Prep of La Canada Flintridge guard Andrew Beck, Newbury Park wing Jordan Cameron, Chaminade of West Hills forward Zach Evans, Taft of Woodland Hills guard Calvin Haynes, Oaks Christian of Westlake Village guard Matt Hornbuckle, Birmingham of Lake Balboa forward Jarrel Smith and Montclair Prep guards Craig Partovich and Robert Webb.

Hart of Newhall guard Taylor Lilley is among 1,000 nominated girls.
