Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City senior basketball standout Evan Harris Evan Leslie Harris BM BCh MP (born 21 October 1965) is a British Liberal Democrat politician. He is the Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon. Education and professional career  has decided to play next year at the Hill School, a prep school in Pennsylvania. Harris, a 6-foot-8 forward, hopes to eventually land a scholarship to play for an Ivy League Ivy League

 school in 2005.

The decision to spend next year at the Hill School will allow Harris to catch up to his original class.

``He skipped a class, so he's actually a year ahead of the kids his age,'' said Harvard-Westlake basketball coach Greg Hilliard. ``This extra year will broaden his recruiting base, and his goal is to play in the Ivy League, so this will put him closer to those schools. I think this will benefit him greatly.''

Harris averaged 14 points and nine rebounds as a senior, helping lead the Wolverines to their third consecutive Southern Section Div. III-AA championship. Two other players - guard Bryce Taylor Bryce Taylor is an American college basketball player at the University of Oregon. The 6'5", 205 pound junior guard is currently averaging 14.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg. High School  and forward Zach Woolridge will play next year in college. Taylor, a 6-5 guard, will play at Oregon and Woolridge, a 6-7 forward, will play at Princeton.

As for next year's Harvard-Westlake team, expect things to carry on without a hitch. Versatile Ed White will return at either point guard or shooting guard The Shooting guard (SG), also known as the two or off guard,[1] is one of five traditional positions on a basketball team. Players of the position are often shorter, leaner, and quicker than forwards. , depending on the emergence of backup point guard Mike Hooks, promising junior-varsity guard John Tan and incoming sophomore Jabari Trotter.

White moved from shooting guard to point last season, and after a brief transition period was playing as well as any point guard in the region.

``The experience benefited Ed a great deal,'' Hilliard said. ``And it's really helped him in regard to recruiting interest.''

White's preference is to play at an Ivy League school, but he is also generating interest from Rice and Santa Clara Santa Clara, city, Cuba

``The recruiting of players begins so much earlier now, so that has a little bit to do with it,'' Hilliard said. ``These days, college coaches want a commitment from a player as soon as possible, so there is quite a bit of pressure.''

THEN AND NOW

It's not often history lines up as symmetrically as it did Saturday at the Daily News Victory Spring Classic, when Oaks Christian of Westlake Village freshman Taylor Schlopy hit her 11th and 12th triples of the season, breaking the state record of former Newbury Park star Oli Keohohou.

Schlopy tied Keohohou's record (10 triples) on April 17 and broke it Saturday against Westlake. Oaks Christian then played Newbury Park in the third-place game where Keohohou, now an assistant coach with Newbury Park, could congratulate Schlopy in person.
