CHATTER: CLU DIVING INTO NEW AQUATICS PROGRAM.

Cal Lutheran plans to field a men's water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a leather-covered ball 27 to 28 in.  team in Fall 2003, marking the first of the aquatics teams the school announced it will begin offering for the 2003-04 school year.  also intends to add women's water polo as well as men's and women's swimming and diving.

The new teams will fulfill an agreement CLU made with the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) is a college athletic conference that operates in the NCAA's Division III. It consists of eleven small private schools which are located in Southern California and organized into eight athletic programs.  when it joined in 1991. The conference wanted CLU, the only SCIAC SCIAC SIGINT Correlation Integration & Analysis Capability  member withought aquatics, to add the sports.

Athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Bruce Bryde doesn't anticipate any problem filling rosters for the teams because a recent e-mail survey among the school's students showed there already is a high level of interest, with several students having participated in aquatics during high school. The teams are scheduled to use the pool at nearby Oaks Christian High of Westlake Village for at least the first two seasons until an on-campus facility is built.

     first baseman/pitcher Wes Whisler was selected to the Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-America second team. It's the second preseason All-America team the sophomore has made.

    Saugus senior center Sheridan Arredondo is shooting 49 percent from the field, one of the lowest percentages on the team. Five players on No. 1 Saugus average more than 10 points a game, and Saugus is shooting more than 60 percent as a team. Freshman shooting guard Taylor Lilly leads the team, having hit 49 of 70 shots (70 percent) from the field and 15 of 30 3-point attempts.

    The Harvard-bound guard matched his season high with 47 points as Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta easily defeated Taft of Woodland Hills to win the 15th annual Falcon Classic basketball tournament.

    The 6-foot-1 Goffredo was 17 of 25 from the field, hitting nine 3-pointers against an athletic Taft defense featuring Jordan Farmar and Steve Smith. Goffredo is averaging 33 points in the Falcons' nine games.

    ``He can score off the dribble and is equally deadly from 3-point range,'' Crescenta Valley coach Adam Jacobsen said. ``He's the type of player that makes the guys around him better.''

    In the Warriors' Marmonte League match at Royal of Simi Valley, she displayed incredible versatility. In the first half, DeVries stopped a Highlanders' penalty kick.

    ``At the time it was still a 1-0 game, so that was a huge save,'' Westlake coach Frank Marino said.

    With third-ranked Westlake leading comfortably in the second half, Marino wanted to give talented backup Kelsey Davis some playing time. DeVries played in the field and scored two goals. Her week continued to bring good news. On Thursday, she committed to Virginia to play soccer for the Cavaliers.

    Duncan is a freshman, but after less than a month of play he might earn a call up to varsity. Duncan was averaging 20 points per game on junior varsity, so varsity coach Andre Chevalier decided to take Duncan to a tournament in Las Vegas last weekend. Duncan hit a game-winning 3- pointer with six seconds remaining as Cleveland of Reseda beat Perry Central of Kentucky in the quarterfinals.

    Wrighster is one of the area's quickest guards and Gaines, a junior point guard, already is receiving recruiting letters from programs such as Duke, Connecticut and Notre Dame. This matchup only happens though, if both teams win or both teams lose in the first round of the Ayala tournament.

    Arenas owns 15 school records at Grant, including the career scoring mark with 2,124 points. Arenas left for the NBA draft after two years at Arizona, where he helped lead the Wildcats to a 2001 NCAA Tournament runner-up finish. He averaged 16.2 points, shot 47.9 percent from the field and was an All-Pacific-10 Conference selection.

    The Warriors chose Arenas with the 31st overall pick. After starting the season on injured reserve, Arenas had worked his way into the starting lineup by the end of the season. This season, he is averaging 16 points, 6.9 assists and 1.88 steals a game.
