CHATTER: CLEVELAND BOYS HAD ITS CHANCES.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

Cleveland High boys' basketball coach Andre Chevalier doesn't want to hear any more talk about the Cavaliers getting robbed by game officials Saturday night. Cleveland lost to Taft of Woodland Hills 61-60 at Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here.  when Taft's Jordan Farmar Jordan Robert Farmar (born November 30, 1986) is an American professional basketball player at starting point guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers.

He was previously the starting point guard for the UCLA men's basketball team.
was fouled on a disputed call with 0.01 seconds remaining, then made two free throws for the Toreadors victory.

Cleveland, which was leading 60-59 at the time of the call, argued Farmar traveled upon catching a half-court pass from Alex Drob, and that he wasn't fouled by Corey Duncan.

As far as Chevalier is concerned, both arguments are moot.

``The fact is, we should have never put ourselves in that position to begin with,'' Chevalier said Monday. ``We had chances to put that game away long before that. Whether or not Jordan traveled or if it was really a foul, to me it doesn't matter. We should have put the game away before it came down to one play like that.''

On the play before Drob's pass to Farmar, Cleveland had possession under its basket with 1.9 seconds remaining, but a miscue mis·cue

pass resulted in the ball sailing over the head of Cleveland's Nick Young, then rolling out of bounds untouched. That gave Taft possession under Cleveland's basket, setting the stage for Drob's long pass to Farmar and the subsequent controversial call.

Although the game was part of the Pangos Dream Classic, it counts toward the West Valley League standings. Coming into the season, the Cavaliers (13-3, 1-0) and Toreadors (13-3, 0-1) were expected to wage a season-long battle for first place, so the loss - and the way it unfolded - was especially difficult to stomach for Cleveland, which now is a game behind Taft in the league standings.

``It definitely hurt,'' Cleveland guard Josh Hill Josh Hill is an Australian Rules Footballer in the AFL with the Western Bulldogs.
