CHATTER: CALIFLORIDA ALL-STARS IN FOR MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

Putting on a high school all-star football game involves a whole lot more than insurance waivers and making sure there's enough ice on each sideline.

Chuck Price, who heads the annual CaliFlorida All-Star Game An all-star game is an exhibition game played by the best players in their sports league. The players are often chosen by a popular vote of fans of the sport and the game often occurs at the halfway point of the regular season, although this is not the case for some all-star games  that featuring top prep players from each state, can vouch for vouch for

Part of Price's job is making sure players are well-fed, entertained and rested during the week leading up to the game.

By the looks of things, Price has done a great job in all those areas. For instance, the players will stay at the Woodland Hills Hilton, and their week will be filled with a Raiders-Chargers football game, a Clippers-Nuggets basketball game and a visit to Universal Studios.

The players also will visit a Ronald McDonald House to help cheer up some youngsters.

``I think we've put together a great package for them,'' Price said. ``Hopefully we can give them an experience to remember.''

The West team definitely will be well coached. Geoff Tisdale of Valencia High finished with 12 interceptions, tying the area's single-season record held by Steve Smith (Taft, 2001).

Two of Tisdale's interceptions came at the goal line in the final seconds of close victories. He also averaged about 50 yards on kickoff returns, including a 99-yard touchdown in the playoffs.

``What an impact Geoff Tisdale had. He had some big-time plays,'' coach Brian Stiman said. ``Who else could be the defensive player of the year but him? I don't think anyone else has accomplished what he has.'' ...
