CHATTER: BARBER'S 62-63 WINS T.O. TITLE.

It was a big weekend for former Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  golfer Tommy Barber, who ripped through Los Robles Robles is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning oaks, and may refer to:
  • Alfonso García Robles (1911-1991), Mexican diplomat and politician
  • Aurora Robles (born 1980), Mexican fashion model
  • Charlie Robles (born 1943), Puerto Rican musician

Barber shot an 8-under 62 Saturday and a 7-under 63 Sunday.

``His 62 was amazing on the first day. I mean that's close to a 59 and that's impressive,'' said Cougars golf coach Gary Peterson. ``But then to come back on Sunday with a 63 was incredible.''

Devin Montgomery, Moorpark College's 2001 Western State Conference men's basketball Player of the Year, will have his No. 24 retired in a ceremony later this year. Montgomery, who went to Alemany of Mission Hills, is a junior guard at Pepperdine.

Moorpark coach Remy McCarthy said Montgomery deserves the honor after averaging 24 points per game in his only year with the Raiders and earning first-team All-State honors. Kellie Cox, the former Quartz Hill standout and now a freshman midfielder with the Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team, was named Big West Conference co-player of the week for Sept. 24-30.

Cox helped the Titans win two games over the weekend, scoring a goal in their 2-0 win over Wyoming and totaling two goals and two assists in a 7-2 rout of San Francisco.

Cox leads the Big West in points (16), goals (6) and assists (4) and ranks second in points per game with 1.78. ...

Former Taft of Woodland Hills football standout Brandon Hance was named the co-offensive player of the week in the Big Ten after leading the Boilermakers to a 35-28 overtime victory over Minnesota on Saturday.

Hance, a redshirt freshman, completed 22 of 36 passes for a career-best 306 yards and three touchdowns, rallying the Boilermakers from an 11-point deficit in the final 8:09.
