Doctors are still trying to determine the cause of death. Takeshita, 48, underwent major heart surgery two years ago, but it was unclear if that was related to his collapse on Monday.

``We're all still in shock right now,'' Granada Hills boys' basketball coach Sean Collyer said. ``Dave was such a positive influence on so many people here at Granada, from teachers to the players. It's pretty tough to deal with.''

Takeshita was an assistant with the Highlanders girls team for five years, then moved to the boys team two years ago after recovering from surgery.

``He was an asset in so many ways,'' Collyer said.

Takeshita is survived by wife Judy and daughters Kelley and Tracey.

Funeral arrangements are pending. For more information, contact the school at (818) 360-2361. ...

And for any basketball coach, that's as close to a perfect weekend as it gets.

``I feel like I'm living a dream,'' said Dornan said. ``It honestly doesn't get any better than this.''

Dornan and assistant coach Bryson Atkins, a former standout at Alemany of Mission Hills, will participate in a coaching clinic at Duke, then watch the Blue Devils blue devil
