``Now that I've been there and seen people smile, I think it has encouraged me to do more, maybe in my high school and in college,'' said Audrianna, who lives in Chatsworth. Sierra teacher Shelly Deutsch nominated Audrianna for the award. ``Audi was a superb example of what we are trying to accomplish in the program. She is bright, sensitive and caring,'' Deutsch said. ``When she started, she was very, very quiet - she was a worker bee. As she continued in the class, she started to volunteer and plan committees - it was beautiful to watch. She was a fabulous person to begin with. Now she is a fabulous leader.'' Each of the three years the program has been in existence at the school, students have organized and implemented a community activity. ``Every day I have to step back and remind myself that these kids are only 11 to 14 years old. The children have learned poise, the ability to articulate and to express themselves, and to work together as teams,'' Deutsch said.
