A month after the Chateau Motel reopened as a shelter for homeless and mentally disabled mentally disabled See Cognitively impaired.  people, some neighbors said Tuesday that they suspect it has once again become a ``magnet for crime.''

As evidence, they point to the arrest of a shelter resident Monday on suspicion of soliciting sex in front of the building, at 6719 Sepulveda Blvd.

``We're back to square one,'' said Mary Lou Holte, a Van Nuys resident and community activist. ``This motel is a magnet for crime.''

Michael Levine, who is leasing the former motel and operating it as a shelter, denied that any crime has been taking place within the building. ``We just want to help people,'' Levine said, ``and we're getting kicked in the butt BUTT. A measure of capacity, equal to one hundred and eight gallons. See Measure. .''

Police said the former motel has not been a problem since it reopened. ``Until yesterday, it was the first time we had seen any prostitution prostitution, act of granting sexual access for payment. Although most commonly conducted by females for males, it may be performed by females or males for either females or males.  in front of the location,'' said Sgt. Michelle Veenstra of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Department's Van Nuys Division vice squad vice squad

After police received a tip from residents, an undercover officer stood outside the motel and was propositioned by a woman there, Veenstra said. The woman, who lives in the motel, has an arrest record for prostitution.

Veenstra said police and residents have joined to successfully deter prostitution on Sepulveda Boulevard.

Also on Tuesday, city inspectors inspected the motel and found from 30 to 40 building code violations that involved problems with plumbing plumbing, piping systems inside buildings for water supply and sewage. The Romans had a highly developed plumbing system; water was brought to Rome by aqueducts and distributed to homes in lead pipes—hence the name plumbing from the Latin word plumbum , electrical, heating and safety.

Typically, such minor violations must be corrected within 30 days from when the order is issued, said Frank Bush, a senior inspector for the city Department of Building and Safety.
