Selectmen SELECTMEN. The name of certain officers in several of the United States, who are invested by the statutes of the several states with various powers.  will be looking to make more than a splash when they take a seat in a dunk tank at the town's annual Labor Day celebration, Old Home Day.

With a little coaxing, Selectmen Kathleen W. Walker and John R. Bacon agreed to join Peter J. Boria in the tank to raise money for a local charity yet to be named.

Mr. Boria initiated the arrangements to borrow the tank from the Overlook Masonic Health Center, and said he plans to invite town department heads and state officials to participate.

Residents who wish to fight a fine issued by the town's inspection services now have a course of action through the inspectional services appeal procedure adopted by selectmen last week.

The board quickly amended staff's proposal that would have required appellants to record a dispute with the inspector and wait seven days before going to the Town Administrator and finally to selectmen, for a process spanning 30 days.

The policy as adopted by the board allows a contractor or homeowner to appeal directly to the Board of Selectmen. Appeals that are not decided by the board within 30 days are automatically granted.
