, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1995--Charles H. McGill has been elected Vice President - Corporate Development of American Brands, Inc., effective February 24, the Company announced today. He will report to Thomas C. Hays, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Brands, and his responsibilities will primarily involve mergers and acquisitions.

McGill, 53, has been Corporate Vice President-Acquisitions and the senior corporate development officer at The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation since 1989. From 1981 to 1989, he was employed by The Pillsbury Company Pillsbury is a brand name used by Minneapolis-based General Mills and the The J. M. Smucker Company.  as Vice President-Corporate Development and earlier as Vice President-Mergers and Acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he was a Vice President of W. R. Grace & Co. and a management consultant at Coopers & Lybrand and at Cresap, McCormick and Paget Inc. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967 as a Supply Corps Officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
