CHARITY EVENT FEATURES FOOD, RIDES, GAMES.Byline: Enrique Rivero Daily News Staff Writer The rides are spinning and the food is cooking at St. Paschal Baylon Saint Paschal Baylon (or Pascal Baylon) (24 May 1540–17 May 1592) was a Spanish friar and is a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. He was born at Torre-Hermosa, in the Kingdom of Aragon, on 24 May, 1540, on the Feast of Pentecost, called in Spain "the Pasch of Catholic Church's annual festival to raise money for a host of local charitable purposes. The weekend festival, which started Friday and will end Sunday, includes a full complement of rides, game booths, international foods and other carnival attractions. It is sponsored by the St. Paschal Men's Club, which has run the annual carnival for more than 25 years, said club board member Joe Smolarski. ``It has a dual purpose. It's an annual fund-raising event, and it's a community get-together,'' Smolarski said. ``It's not only for the church community but for the whole community.'' The 12 rides - about half for children - include such carnival staples as a Ferris wheel Ferris wheel, amusement park ride. It consists of a power-operated wheel that is about 50 ft (15 m) in diameter.
