 has filed misdemeanor charges against six Sun Valley auto dismantlers accused of violating conditions of their water permits and mishandling hazardous waste Hazardous waste

Any solid, liquid, or gaseous waste materials that, if improperly managed or disposed of, may pose substantial hazards to human health and the environment. Every industrial country in the world has had problems with managing hazardous wastes.

The businesses were inspected in January as part of a multi-agency task force cracking down on environmental problems in the heavily industrial Sun Valley. The state and local water, air, waste and fire agencies inspected 103 auto dismantlers, and the six were the first to be charged.

Charges were filed against West Coast Auto Parts Auto parts are components of automobiles. They mainly are, in alphabetic order (only car specific articles or articles with car section):
  • Air filter
  • Automobile self starter
  • Bell housing
  • Brakes
  • Bucket seat
  • Bumper
  • Buzzer
  • Battery

The charges range from improper labeling of hazardous waste to failure to use proper storm-water maintenance practices. Most charges carry penalties of up to a year in jail and/or fines up to $5,000.

``You deal with the entry level violations and you'll prevent more serious violations for occurring in the neighborhood,'' Delgadillo said Tuesday.

The Sun Valley task force has also targeted gravel and mining operations and Bradley Landfill.
