Lester has been a member of IABC for 22 years, and has served the organization as secretary, vice president of professional development and vice president of membership. She is a member of the association's ethics committee ethics committee A multidisciplinary hospital body composed of a broad spectrum of personnel–eg, physicians, nurses, social workers, priests, and others, which addresses the moral and ethical issues within the hospital. See DNR, Institutional review board. , and will now lead the 350-member Los Angeles chapter throughout the current year.

``I've had my own business for 15 years, and I would say that 80 percent of my business comes through IABC,'' Lester said. ``I use networking through the association to get business, and I also give business to other association members.''
