CHANCE OF RAIN TILL WEDNESDAY.

A 50 percent chance of rain is expected today, bringing with it chilly temperatures and the potential for wet commutes.

``It's definitely not a strong system,'' Bartling said. ``We have differing models telling us different things about when it will pass, but we know it will be dry Wednesday afternoon through Sunday.''

High temperatures today are expected to reach the mid-60s, with overnight lows in the mid-40s, Bartling said.

The most recent shower, which came in from the northern Pacific Ocean and moved south last Thursday, helped bring the city's precipitation for the rain year almost on par with the average.

Since July 1, when the rain year begins, the city has seen 10.37 inches of rain. The average for this time of year is 11.06.

Last rain year, the city's driest on record, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  had only recorded about 4 inches by late February.
