CHAMPION PARTS TO BEGIN SEARCH FOR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 OAK BROOK, Ill., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Champion Parts, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: CREB) announced today that it has formed a committee of three directors to begin a search for a permanent new chief executive officer. Raymond G. Perelman resigned as president and chief executive officer, but will remain as chairman of the board. Barry L. Katz also resigned as senior vice president, but will remain available as a consultant.
 An operating committee consisting of two members of the board of directors, Edward R. Kipling and Donald G. Santucci, and Thomas W. Blashill, the company's chief financial officer, will function as the Office of the President in the interim. Kipling formerly managed the remanufacturing division of Genuine Parts Company. Santucci is the owner of a plastic products manufacturer.
 Champion Parts is the country's largest independent automotive replacement parts remanufacturer in the multi-billion-dollar automotive, truck and farm equipment aftermarket.
