CHAMINADE WILL GET WAKE-UP CALL.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Daily News Staff Writer

Get the coffee brewing brewing: see beer.  early this morning. You'd hate to fall back into sleep and miss Chaminade High play for the Southern Section Division III-A boys' basketball title in Anaheim at 9 a.m.

Talk about your early Saturday reveilles. At a time when most people are rolling out of bed, the Eagles will be playing Corona Corona, city, United States

at the Pond. At stake is a potential second consecutive section championship for the school and the sixth title in a row for the underrated Mission League.

Actually, the Eagles (23-4) are making it easy on themselves. They stayed overnight in Orange County on Friday, thus avoiding a two-hour bus ride at dawn. They haven't played since last Friday, so no danger of fatigue fatigue, in engineering

No chance of that. For the Eagles, this is an opportunity to distance themselves from last year's championship team and create their own history.

``I didn't wear (last season's) championship ring or the championship T-shirts once,'' Young said. ``Not that I am not proud of that, because once summer rolls around I'll put all that stuff on. But this is a different team and as a coach I had a responsibility to this team.''

Last year the Eagles pounded opponents inside with stars Scott Long, Scott Borchart and Justin Stewart, while Justin Beach took care of the long-range shooting. Chaminade rarely played someone it didn't dominate physically.

This year's team is far less dominant but still found a way to be successful, albeit in a different way.

Borchart is still a force down low, but the Eagles rely just as much on the outside shooting of Ryan Arceo and Chris Canoles. Plus, Clarence Mitchell Mitchell, city (1990 pop. 13,798), seat of Davison co., SE S.Dak.; inc. 1881. ``This team has done a good job of following last year's team,'' Young said. ``There's a responsibility there. They had to endure all the comparisons, the fact thatother teams based their season on beating us. But they pulled through and figured out a way to get it done.''

Corona del Mar (18-8) finished third in the Sea View League and is led by Dennis Alshuler (13.6 pts) and Kevin Hansen Han·sen , Gerhard Henrik Armauer 1746-1845.

``They're very, very disciplined,'' Young said.
