Chaminade, meanwhile, made itself eligible for an at-large berth in the Southern Section playoffs with its 12th victory, and also tied Verbum Dei of Los Angeles (11-7, 6-5) for fourth place in league, a position that lends an automatic bid to postseason play. "We've been circling (12 wins) and the fourth seed ever since we were out of the race for the league," Chaminade coach Bryan Cantwell said. "These guys knew they could do it, and they played as a team." Chaminade (12-12, 6-5) post Jules Montgomery led the way with 16 points, Evan Grossi's hot shooting provided 14, and Jamal McClerkin's hustle hus·tle v. hus·tled, hus·tling, hus·tles v.tr. 1. Renaldo Woolridge led Harvard-Westlake with 18 points. His three-point play brought his team within 54-50 with 1:58 remaining. Chaminade responded with a perfectly executed press-breaker, producing a layup, and the dagger -- a baseline 3-pointer by Grossi. "This time we stayed with them the whole game and we really got after it defensively."
