Byline: Lee Barnathan Daily News Staff Writer

When does a championship not feel like one?

When you play in the Southern Section soccer finals. The section declared after the 1992-93 season that teams which are tied after 80 minutes share the championship.

So Chaminade Chaminade can refer to:
  • William Joseph Chaminade
  • Cécile Chaminade, French composer and pianist
  • Chaminade University of Honolulu
  • Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York

It was Chaminade's second straight title.

``It's crap,'' Chaminade's Kerrie Clavadetscher said of the co-championship.

Clavadetscher probably had the largest reason to say so. She missed a penalty kick in the 26th minute.

``I kicked the ground,'' she said. ``I was trying to hit it to the corner like I always do.''

Instead, she kicked the ball softly on the ground to goalie Tiana Webb.

After the match, Clavadetscher was in tears, not only because of missing the kick and this being her last high school match, but because she said coach Mike Evans Ev·ans , Herbert McLean 1882-1971.

``He said, `It's fine if we win, but if we lose, it's your fault,' '' Clavadetscher said.

Evans denied he said it.
