Chaminade (11-3) won its fifth straight game and advanced to the semifinals for the first time in this decade. The Eagles will play top- seeded Dominguez of Compton next week at a date and site to be determined.

The game ended on a second-and-15 play from the 20-yard line, when Lancaster quarterback Tim Ennis found an open Jacob Potts in front of the end zone on the right sideline sideline

. Potts dropped a wet ball that caused problems for both teams all night at the 3. The slippery ball had just rolled out of bounds for a touchback by the time Lancaster's Kory Arnold corralled it.

of a game,'' Chaminade coach Ben McEnroe said. ``I'm sorry it ended with a question mark a little bit, but these were two good football teams. We played hard the whole game and we were just fortunate to come out on the other end of it.''

Chaminade trailed 13-6 with 5:50 remaining when quarterback Ryan Griffin (22 of 32 passing, 221 yards) engineered a 19-play, 80-yard drive that culminated with Devin Smith scoring on a draw play from the 5 with 22 seconds left in regulation.

Griffin completed two fourth-down plays, including a fourth-and-11 from the Chaminade 32 that Kevin Pilar Pilar

``They've done it before, so they just hung together and they got it done,'' McEnroe said.

Lancaster led 13-6 early in the fourth quarter on Marcus Morvant's 32- yard field goal. He also kicked a 27-yarder late in the first half that gave Lancaster a 10-6 lead.

Lancaster (6-6) survived the first round of overtime when Chris Williams blocked an Ian Colburn extra point. Lancaster blocked an extra point in overtime for a second consecutive week.

Lancaster's Marcus Wyre rushed for 147 yards on 23 carries.

Lancaster, which was seeking its first semifinal appearance, nearly did it in improbably fashion.

It didn't have a quality win before last week's 35-34 first-round overtime upset victory over Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. ``I think the way they played was great, we did a great job all around,'' Cortez said. ``You just wish you had one more play and it would have been different.''
