CHAMINADE ADVANCES SENIORS STEP UP LATE TO HOLD OFF FEISTY MORRO BAY.Byline: Daily News Sometime in the next month, the Chaminade girls' basketball team will have to start dealing with life after Kelly Cochran graduates. That night almost came earlier than expected, when the Eagles got a stronger challenge than expected from Morro Bay in a Southern Section Div. III-A wild-card game Thursday night at Chaminade. But Cochran and fellow senior Christina Skidmore made sure the season didn't come to a premature end. Cochran scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the Eagles to a 43-42 victory. Skidmore had 10 points, including what proved to be the game-winner, and nine rebounds. ``She's going above and beyond even what I expected,'' Chaminade coach Kelli DiMuro said of the UC Irvine-bound Cochran. ``She really stepped up with offensive rebounds and at the end of the game with free throws.'' Chaminade (19-8), ranked No. 8 by the Daily News, advances to play seventh-seeded Orange Lutheran on Saturday night in the first round of the 16-team bracket. Kelly Blair 2000 USATF athlete biography
