The month of March is upon us, which means the Chaminade of West Hills girls' soccer team must be preparing to win a Southern Section championship. After all, the Eagles wouldn't know any other way.

Chaminade earned a chance to play for its fourth consecutive title, as Tara Donoghue scored two first-half goals in a 2-1 victory over Corona Corona, city, United States

Last year, Chaminade and Bishop Montgomery tied for the championship.

``We have the experience, and we know what it takes to win,'' said Donoghue, a junior forward whose second goal was her 22nd of the season, tying a school record. ``Our team is known for playing with a lot of heart, and if we play as a unit I think we'll do fine.''

The Eagles played tight defense in the first half and limited the Sea Kings' offensive opportunities. Chaminade also took advantage of its two best chances of the half.

In the eighth minute, Donoghue held the ball near the end line, just about 10 yards away from the left post. She chipped the ball in the air, simply attempting to create a scoring opportunity, but the ball curved toward the net and over the head of goalkeeper For the close-in weapon system, see .

Chaminade goalkeeper Sara Leibowitz, who barely touched the ball in the first half, made several tough saves in the second half, including the closest call in the final minute of play, when she stopped a close-range shot by Corona del Mar's Kate Simon while sitting on the grass.

``I think it was pretty obvious that we had the most talent on the field, so we probably picked the right day to not play our best game,'' Chaminade coach Mike Evans said. ``I almost had a heart attack there in the final minutes, there were some tense moments but we did a good job of getting the ball out of there when we needed to.''
