CHAMBERS SELLS INDIANA OPERATIONS FOR APPROXIMATELY $19 MILLION

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Chambers Development Company, Inc. (AMEX: CDVA, CDVB) today announced that it has completed the sale of its landfill, collection and hauling operations in Indiana to USA Waste Services, Inc. of Dallas.
Commenting on this transaction, Alexander Rangos, Chambers' executive vice president of operations, said, "I am pleased that we have completed this transaction and believe that it is beneficial to both parties. The ability for USA Waste to integrate these operations into their existing businesses in this area of the country make these operating facilities more valuable to USA Waste than Chambers."
The total sales price for Chambers' Indiana operations is approximately $19 million, consisting of approximately $15 million in cash and $4 million in notes.
Proceeds will be used for debt reduction and general corporate purposes. Chambers expects to record a gain on the transaction of approximately $13 million.
John G. Rangos Sr., Chambers president and CEO, said, "These sales are part of Chambers' previously announced restructuring program which includes the sale of non-strategic assets and focuses on operating efficiencies and cost reductions."
Chambers, headquartered in Pittsburgh, is involved in landfill, transfer station and recycling operations, as well as the collection, transportation and disposal of residential, commercial, non-hazardous industrial and medical wastes.
