CHAMBER SOLICITS NEW LOGO APPLICATIONS DUE BY OCTOBER'S END.

The Antelope Valley
 Chambers of Commerce to design a new logo for the group's 100th anniversary celebration.

The winning logo will be used in the historical book, program, invitations and related items to be used for the celebration.

The person who designs the winning logo will receive a $100 cash prize courtesy of Artis and Jerry Bigalk, and a gift basket A gift basket, or fruit basket is typically a gift that is delivered to the recipient at their home or workplace. There are different varieties of gift baskets, some which have fruit only, some with dry/canned goods only (such as tea, crackers and jam) although the standard  donated do·nate

 Eckley, former chairman of the board of Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the anniversary committee.

Possible ideas for the logo include incorporating the symbols of diamonds for the 100th anniversary and the idea that the Lancaster Chamber has always been known as ``the heart of the Antelope Valley.''

The Antelope Valley Chambers of Commerce was formed by the merger of the Lancaster and Rosamond chambers.

``We'd really like to see something innovative yet simple, and we know we have young graphic arts graphic arts: see aquatint; drawing; drypoint; engraving; etching; illustration; linoleum block printing; lithography; mezzotint; niello; pastel; poster; silk-screen printing; silhouette; silverpoint; sketch; stencil; woodcut and wood engraving.  and creative students here in our area to make the competition interesting,'' Eckley said. ``All are welcome to enter, amateur or professional, young or old.''

Logos must be submitted by Oct. 31 to the chamber office, 544 W. Lancaster Blvd. The winning logo will be chosen Nov. 5, and will become the property of the chamber.
