CHAMBER SEEKS NEW DIRECTOR.

SANTA CLARITA - The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new Executive Vice President following the resignation of Cheryl Adams, who had held the position for three years and had been with the chamber for 13 years.

``Thirteen years is a long time with one organization, and I think she just wanted to find something to extend her wings,'' chamber President Connie Worden-Roberts said.

The search committee, chaired by Elizabeth Hop, will probably make use of technical consultants and place ads in a statewide chamber of commerce publication to extend the search throughout the state, Worden-Roberts said.

``As one of the largest chambers in the state of California, in one of the most dynamic communities anywhere, we believe this position will attract a top notch field of experienced applicants,'' she said.

The chamber is looking for someone who has experience dealing with a large board of directors, since next year the 1,400-member organization will have 28 directors and 30 different committees.

But while the search for a replacement has just started, several resumes have already been received and Worden-Roberts hopes to have the position filled by Oct. 1.

``I don't know if that's unrealistic, but it seems like it should be enough time,'' she said.

Meanwhile Kim Kurowski has accepted the role of interim Executive Vice President and Worden-Roberts praised the job she has been doing.

``She's one of those unique people who is excellent at motivating people. She makes the staff aware of her potential and of their own potential,'' Worden-Roberts said.
