The D.J. is out. Live music by The New Four preps is in.

Organizers of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce's 39th annual installation and awards ceremony promise it won't be business as usual on Saturday.

``We wanted to treat it like the Academy Awards,'' said Chamber past president Sally Grant. ``It's going to be really different this year. It's going to be exciting. We work so hard during the year, we just wanted to make it extra special.''

The New Four Preps features the original lead singers from three well-known bands from the past: Jim Yester of The Association, Bruce Bruce, Scottish royal family descended from an 11th-century Norman duke, Robert de Brus. He aided William I in his conquest of England (1066) and was given lands in England.  Belland and Ed Cobb of the Four Preps, and Dave Somerville Dave Somerville (born Oct 2, 1933)is a Canadian singer mainly known for his leading vocal role in the Diamonds, one of most popular vocal groups of the 1950s.  of The Diamonds.

Collectively, they were involved in the sale of 100 million records and in 13 Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, chamber officials note.

The choice of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center was a carefully calculated decision.

``Sally (Grant) feels very strongly about us supporting our Cultural Arts Center, and she wanted to do something to enhance the center to the public and bring more awareness,'' the chamber's executive director, Nancy Bender, said.

Bender said the chamber worked hard to make this year's ceremony unique. New officers will be installed, and the 1995 business and business person of the year will be recognized.

``I think it's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  for something like this,'' she said. ``I think that people want to have something different in their lives and some entertainment and fun. It's time, because we've had long years of struggle here. It's time to change.''
