And it's easy to see why when you look at the stunning chalk drawings of English-born artist Julian Beever Julian Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l'œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle. . He's been producing amazing 3D-style optical illusions since the mid-1990s - including drawings on Scottish streets. His Make Poverty History drawing was requested by Live8 to support the pressure campaign on the G8 in Edinburgh. Looked at from the correct angle, his work takes on a unique three-dimensional aspect, based on the French style of trompe l'oeil trompe l'oeil (trôNp lö`yə): see illusionism. trompe l'oeil (French; “deceive the eye”) - which translates as "trick the eye". Now living in Belgium, much of his work takes a whole day to create- and 24 hours later the astonishing artwork is often lost forever, vanished under the feet of passing pedestrians.
