CHAIRMAN OF AMERICAN HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS ELECTED TO WEST COMPANY BOARD
 PHOENIXVILLE, Pa., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The West Company, Incorporated (NYSE: WST) today announced that Dr. Monroe E. Trout, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of American Healthcare Systems, has been elected a director of the company.
 Trout's election increases the number of directors to 11.
 Trout, 60, graduated from: Dickinson School of Law, 1964; The University of Pennsylvania, M.D., 1957, and The University of Pennsylvania, B.A., 1953. Trout has received numerous honors from professional organizations of which he is a member, the American College of Legal Medicine, the universities he attended, and in various journals and publications. Since 1987, he has been chairman of the board and president and chief executive officer of American Healthcare Systems, a national health care network of 39 multi-hospital systems with more than 1,000 health care facilities in 44 states.
 Trout's broad experience includes senior positions with Pfizer & Co. and Sterling Drug. In addition, he served as chief of the EKG and Medical Department at Harrisburg State Hospital, was a member of the staff at Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital, and held the position of Lecturer in Legal Medicine at Dickinson School of Law.
