Dr. Greenspan is Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Greenspan also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Fed's principal monetary policymaking body.
 issued the following statement on March 5, 2001:

Roger Ferguson Ferguson, city (1990 pop. 22,286), St. Louis co., E Mo., a suburb of St. Louis; inc. 1894. It is primarily residential.  has been a distinguished and respected member of the Federal Reserve Board, exercising sound judgment and benefiting our work on a wide range of domestic and international policy matters. I welcome his nomination NOMINATION, This word has several significations. 1. An appointment; as, I nominate A B, executor of this my last will. 2. A proposition; the word nominate is used in this sense in the constitution of the United States, art. 2, s.  to another term on the Board.
