In a visit to the Korean Care Center on the ninth floor of the hospital in February, Los Angeles Police Commissioner Jin Kim presented a commendation COMMENDATION. The act of recommending, praising. A merchant who merely commends goods he offers for sale, does not by that act warrant them, unless there is some fraud: simplex commendatio non obligat. from the County of Los Angeles to the hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Shawn Bolouki. The commendation was presented "in recognition of dedicated service to the affairs of the community and for the civic pride demonstrated by numerous contributions for the benefit of all citizens of Los Angeles County." The Korean Care Center provides culturally-sensitive medical care to Korean patients, as well as other diverse ethnic groups comprising the hospital's service area. The Center opened two years ago, and caters to the tastes and customs of the local Korean population, the largest outside of Korea. The delegation visiting the hospital also included John Lee and Young Park of the Korean American Korean Americans (Korean: 한국계 미국인, Hanja: 韓國系美國人, hangukgye migugin) are Americans of Korean descent.
