CH2M HILL TO GIVE ECOMASTER TO CLIENTS
 FOR CLEAN WATER EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
HERNDON, Va., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the passage of the Clean Water Act and to celebrate the designation of 1992 as the "Year of Clean Water," CH2M HILL will be giving 25 copies of "Ecomaster," a computer game promoting environmental awareness, to its clients for use in educational outreach activities that focus on water pollution control and water conservation. The interactive game was originally developed for children by New Media Magic of Portland, Ore., in collaboration with the city of Portland and Linda Macpherson, a senior water policy specialist with CH2M HILL. CH2M HILL is a national and international environmental engineering firm.
Macpherson also serves on the steering committee for America's Clean Water Foundation, a non-profit organization established to increase public awareness of our nation's valuable water resources. She will be honored at an Oct. 16 banquet by the foundation for her work in promoting the development and use of innovative learning techniques such as "Ecomaster."
Macpherson comments: "Our clients will have exclusive use of 'Ecomaster' for their educational outreach activities. In addition, our firm intends to work with game developer New Media Magic to release a new module of 'Ecomaster' each year, creating an ongoing series of environmental education tools. New modules could include topics such as 'Exploring Your Wastewater Treatment Plant,' 'Managing Water from Storms,' 'Water Conservation,' 'Groundwater' and 'Wetlands.' CH2M HILL water resources staff will contribute their expertise in developing the new modules. The firm hopes that the continued use of 'Ecomaster' by communities across the United States will foster a new generation of water smart citizens. The continued development of 'Ecomaster' represents CH2M HILL's commitment to convert the 'Year of Clean Water' into the 'Years of Clean Water.'"
CH2M HILL will demonstrate 'Ecomaster' as part of an exhibit titled "Water Wonders," sponsored by America's Clean Water Foundation on Sunday, Oct. 18, from noon to 4 p.m. on The Mall in Washington.
