Publishing Technologies again reinforced its dominant market position at this year's IPA IPA - International Phonetic Alphabet  Proofing RoundUp. In addition to testing the efficiency of proofing equipment suppliers, this year's event also tested submissions from the user community, including agencies, designers, printers, prepress companies and publishers. Of 13 participating vendors, 28 percent of user submissions came from CGS customers - more than any other vendor.

A panel of expert judges evaluated all proof entries based on color hue accuracy, gray balance, flesh tone reproduction, as well as rendering of shape, highlight and shadow detail, tonal transitions and vignettes. Vendors were required to work solely with an IT8.7/4 target and numeric data Refers to quantities and money amounts used in calculations. Contrast with string or character data. .

Of the total entered proofs submissions, CGS performed very well in all categories of the RoundUp events including hard and soft proofing Providing customers with a preview of printed output on screen rather than on paper. Soft proofing provides instant feedback and is useful when many color and content decisions still need to be finalized before a hard-copy proof is created. , pantone spot colors, n-color ICC profiles, remote proofing and the test for JDF JDF Job Definition Format (XML-based format for workflow and control information)

CGS' remote proofing results turned out excellent with proofs created by ORIS Color Tuner 5.2.2 at multiple locations. All submissions were created on the Epson x800 series, using CGS PearlPROOF Super White media - with the ORIS Certified Proof verification system.
