CFP Board CEO Sarah Ball Teslik to Join Distinguished Speakers Addressing Texas Graduate Accounting Students.

DENVER -- Sarah Ball Teslik, the chief executive officer of Certified Planner Board of Standards, Inc., will join the ranks of corporate and government leaders speaking this fall to University of Texas at Austin graduate accounting students, when she takes the podium October 12, 2005. The event, which is open only to students and faculty, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in the auditorium at San Jacinto Residence Hall.

"The theme of this years' program is 'integrity' and I look forward to discussing with the students how that can be achieved both personally and as a corporate goal," Teslik said. "Creating situations where alignment of the individuals' interests with that of the corporation's interests fosters a situation where everyone is encouraged to do the right thing."

Teslik took over the helm of Certified Planner Board of Standards, Inc., last year after 20 years as the founding executive director and general counsel for the Council for Institutional Investors. The Council under Teslik's direction was made up of pension fund members who held trillions of dollars of investments and promoted good corporate behavior by wielding the power of those pension funds. Teslik's Council kept the media spotlight on New York Stock Exchange former CEO Richard Grasso until he resigned amid the clamor about his overly generous compensation package.

Teslik has spent her first year as the head of Certified Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which certifies more than 48,000 financial planners nationwide, aligning the internal operations of the non-profit regulatory body. Teslik will now be turning her attention toward the external mission of CFP Board, to expand the public awareness about financial planning and that the value of the marks issued by CFP Board to financial planners.

The Master in Professional Accounting Lyceum brings to University of Texas prominent leaders of government, business and the accounting profession to address graduate accounting students on policy issues, trends in business and recent developments in accounting practice. Past speakers in the series have included the Henry Cisneros, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and David Walker, Comptroller General of the United States.
