CF MOTORFREIGHT EXPANDS OPERATIONS IN LATIN AMERICA; TRUCKING COMPANY LAUNCHES NEW SERVICE TO ARGENTINA AND CHILE

MENLO PARK, Calif., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- With the introduction of direct less-than-truckload (LTL) service to Argentina and Chile, CF MotorFreight, one of North America's largest long-haul trucking companies, now services most of the Caribbean and one-third of Latin America.
"This expansion in Latin America further extends our commitment to provide comprehensive LTL service throughout the Americas," said Peter Boulais, executive vice president of sales and marketing for CF MotorFreight. "We've been a pioneer in providing LTL service to the Caribbean and Latin American markets for more than a decade. With our technological resources, we offer customers seamless door-to-door international service and can help them find the most efficient, cost- effective means of transporting freight in this region of the world."
In addition to Argentina and Chile, CF MotorFreight serves Jamaica, Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, Costa Rica, Panama, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
"Our experience with LTL service to the Caribbean and Latin America enables us to satisfy a broad range of shipping requirements," said Benny DeJesus, manager of Caribbean and Latin American operations for CF MotorFreight. "We offer U.S. exporters single-bill service -- rather than multiple shipping bills -- for both inland and ocean transportation as well as image processing technology that electronically stores duplicates of transportation documents for fast retrieval."
CF MotorFreight maintains a toll-free telephone hotline to provide customers with offshore shipping schedules and rates: 800-453-4867.
Trade with Chile has grown more than 110 percent over the past five years to more than $15 billion, while trade with Argentina has grown 8 percent to more than $16 billion, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The United States enjoys an 18-percent share of Chile's $7 billion import market and 19 percent of Argentina's $4 billion in imports. Primary exports to Chile and Argentina from the United States include machinery, chemicals, petroleum and agricultural products. Major imports from the two countries include copper, fruits, grains and leather.
LTL shipments traveling to Argentina and Chile will be trucked to South Florida, then carried by ocean vessel on a weekly basis to destination ports and picked up by CF MotorFreight operations on the other end.
CF MotorFreight provides intermediate and long-haul transportation of less-than-truckload freight, which are commercial and industrial shipments generally weighing less than 10,000 pounds.
Through its freight-flow system of 560 terminals and 22,000 employees, CF MotorFreight serves virtually every business address in North America, including the United States, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. A subsidiary of Consolidated Freightways Inc. (NYSE: CNF), CF MotorFreight is based in Menlo Park, Calif.
